Taste of the South

A D.C. Based Non Profit

The Taste of the South was founded by a group of transplanted southerners in 1984. The Taste of the South Committee, comprised of 43 members across 13 states, supports charities in their hometown communities and shares the culture of the South with Washington D.C. They have raised over $8 million for 250 charities to create differences in the lives of the people these organizations serve.

Each year, Taste of the South selects a new cause and identifies southern charities doing important work within the cause. The cause for 2022 was Conservation, and the Gulf Coast Center for Ecotourism & Sustainability was selected as the delegated charity for Alabama.

National Feature Award 2022

In addition to the states’ delegated charities, one non profit is given the honor of National Featured Charity. The Gulf Coast Center for Ecotourism & Sustainability is proud to have been selected as 2022’s Taste of South National Featured Charity. The funds donated to our center will have a profound impact on the success of our 2024 Eco Center launch and will help further our mission of educating youth and protecting our beautiful Gulf Coast.
