The Alabama Youth Action for Sustainability Summit (AL-YASS) is a 2-day educational initiative for youth in Alabama to share their sustainability action projects, learn from each other, professional scientists, and community organizations to enhance their skills and resilience. Alabama YASS is expected to draw 60 youth from across the state to share their environmental citizens science investigations, place-based sustainability interventions, creative self-expression, and more, as they prepare to become resilient community and sustainability advocates and leaders. This is a joint project of the STEMMing the Tide project in collaboration with Birmingham-Southern college and the University of West Alabama Black Belt STEM Education Institute. The summit also offers professional development opportunities for educators in the field.
This summit will be hosted by the Gulf Coast Center for Ecotourism & Sustainability at the Gulf Coast Eco Center and will also partially take place at the Learning Campus at Gulf State Park. Visit the website for more info!
